Our world famous singer Kristina Nilsson alias Kristina Jonsdotter was born in 1843 in Sjöabol (also called Snugge), a small cottage in Vederslöv not far from Växjö. She was the youngest daughter in a poor family. At five years of age Kristina and her family had no other choise than to move to an other cottage, Sibbagården in Skatelöv. As a child Kristina played the violin and sang at inns and markets nearby to help up the familys economy. She was discovered and her education was taken care of, mainly by Mrs Adelaide Valerius-Leuhusen in Gothenburg and the composer Berwald in Stockholm. 17 years old Kristina went to Paris to study the art of singing, and soon she became a well known name. 1867 she bought the house Sjöabol (Snugge), back to her parents. Kristina was very well liked in many countries such as France, England, USA and Russia. Kristina died in 1921 and was buried at the Tegner cemetary in Växjö.
