Dänningelanda church was
situated here earlier. The first church at this place was built in the
middle ages and stood here until 1750, when it was hit by a fire. As soon
as 1751 the new church was finished and inagurated by the bishop Olof
Osander from Växjö.
There were plans of building a
new church in Vederslöv, and when it was finished, applications for
permission to pull down the church in Dänningelanda were made. The church
and the bell tower were sold at an auktion in 1880. 680 kr for the church
and 75 kr for the bell tower. Nowadays the bells are used in Vederslövs
new church, and other inventories are preserved at Smålands museum.
1952 a new belltower was built
at the cemetary. The cemetary has been a burial place since the middle
ages, and still is for the people in Dänningelanda.
