The osprey is an example of a bird that is susceptible to disturbances. The nest is often well in view on the top of a pine- tree on the edge of the water or on a small island. When coming too close, the bird flies away and hovers high near the nest. Then leave immediately the place. Do not go ashore to have a break or to camp close to the birds nesting places The black-throated diver often breeds on islands and is very susceptible to disturbances. If it swims close to the shore, the nest is probably near-by. Most other birds behave in a similar way. It the birds seem "unafraid" and do not leave when you approach, it is probably a sign that the nest is not far away. Keep away!
