Hargstenen (the Hargstone)

in Siggahult according to ancient tradition a sacrifice cult was carried out here.

"Hargstenen" is a large stone block with a round hole on the top. People in ancient times used to grease the hole with butter, fat, honey or blood as a sacrifice to the occult unknown powers which they belived in.

About 70 m South East from "Hargstenen" was a vein ot water where people sacrificed coins and other objects. At the same time they wished that something they hoped for would happen.

As a cure for sickness one drank the water or took it home to rub on sick body parts.

The Hargstone lies on the border line where three parishes meet, about 400 m from the public road. Nearby is "Torsabrånen", where it was told that the god Thor dwelled. This gave the place a magical significance.

More sights you will find here and on the map here the Hargstone has the sign E23
